This particular deck with a cover extended around the home to a small side yard with a large existing gate to allow access for large items.
This deck and cover was “flashed” properly to prevent moisture from sitting next to the house. Great care was taken to route water away from home using flashing, a quality polycarbonate roofing and a gutter and drain system.
The deck cover is attached with Simpson Strong Ties that keep the wind from lifting the cover off the structure. The posts are set in concrete to anchor the structure to the ground.
Although this picture was taken with a cell phone camera and was reversed in the process somehow, it shows the pier blocks and poured concrete anchors that the structure was secured to. It also shows the metal gutter system to divert water away from the bottom edge of the cover and away from the deck.
